Cenário Festivo Afroamazônida Brasileiro: A Folia de São Benedito na Comunidade Quilombola Silêncio em Óbidos-Pará Brazilian Afro-Amazonian Festive Scenario: the Folia de São Benedito in the Silêncio Quilombola Community in Óbidos-Pará

Abstract

 Em diversas comunidades afroamazônidas, há fatores originários do continente africano, que se recompuseram e ganharam novos acessórios durante processos de adaptação desses povos que chegaram à Amazônia no período escravocrata brasileiro. Os cenários culturais das comunidades remanescentes de quilombos na Amazônia podem ser apresentados a partir da relação entre cultura, identidade e memória, temas importantes para o registro e incentivo à preservação das performances culturais afrodescendentes. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma dessas performances que ocorre na Comunidade Remanescente de Quilombo Silêncio, no município de Óbidos, que fica no estado do Pará, e, assim, contribuir para o registro e preservação desta cultura. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em três momentos. Primeiramente, realizamos o levantamento bibliográfico e o aprofundamento do referencial teórico. Em seguida, a pesquisa de campo com entrevistas semiestruturadas, aplicadas as oito pessoas mais idosas da comunidade. E no terceiro momento, realizamos a transcrição das entrevistas e a análise dos dados à luz da historiografia da Amazônia. Nas falas dos comunitários, as festas de folia de santo foram as lembranças mais recorrentes, especificamente, a festa de São Benedito. A Folia de São Benedito é uma manifestação identitária e memorial de um povo que desde sua chegada ao Baixo Amazonas, no século XVIII, tem buscado fortalecer sua cultura na relação com as culturas dos povos originários e dos colonizadores, bem como, com a floresta; e cujas expressões são fortalecidas a partir da luta pelo reconhecimento de sua herança afro-brasileira.

English Abstract: In several Afro-Amazonian communities, there are factors originating from the African continent, which were recomposed and gained new accessories during the adaptation processes of these peoples who arrived in the Amazon during the Brazilian slavery period. The cultural scenarios of the remaining quilombo communities in the Amazon can be presented based on the relationship between culture, identity and memory, important themes for recording and encouraging the preservation of Afro-descendant cultural performances. In this sense, the objective of this article is to present one of these performances that takes place in the Quilombo Silêncio Remaining Community, in the municipality of Óbidos, which is in the state of Pará, and, thus, contribute to the recording and preservation of this culture. The research was developed in three stages. First, we carried out a bibliographic survey and a deepening of the theoretical framework. Then, field research with semi-structured interviews, applied to the eight oldest people in the community. And in the third moment, we performed the analysis of the data in the light of the historiography of the Amazon. In the speeches of the community members, the feasts of saints were the most recurrent memories, specifically, the feast of São Benedito. The Folia de São Benedito is an identity manifestation and memorial of a people who, since their arrival in the Lower Amazon, in the 18th century, have sought to strengthen their culture in relation to the cultures of the original peoples and colonizers, as well as with the forest; and whose expressions are strengthened from the struggle for recognition of their Afro-Brazilian heritage.
