Re-alignment of Naur Road by Remote Sensing Techniques and Geographic Information Systems to offset impact of water movement
Abstract
A major problem associated with surface and ground water movement is deterioration and failure of engineering structures, if not designed and constructed properly according to specifications and standards to suit local conditions. Roads are examples of engineering structures which suffering from excessive water, if the drainage system has not been established sufficiently, leading to soil erosion and landslides along or across road alignme-nt. Such problems require knowledge, experience, and high technology for solutions. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System were adopted for data collecting, analysis and display outputs of re-aligned Naur Road in Jordan to offset impact of water movement.
