Abstract
The procedures for design, selection and installation of fans for horizontal duct ventilation and air conditioning applications in buildings are presented. The underlying principles of fluid mechanics and head losses due to friction and across fittings were considered. Practical illustrations are provided for ducted and non-ducted ventilation and air conditioned distribution in buildings. The use of characteristic curves for selection of fans is also discussed.
