Publishing scientific papers in scholarly journals

Abstract

The style and approach for publishing a scientific paper in a refereed or scholarly journal are presented to guide aspiring authors on procedures for preparing high quality manuscripts. The rigorous demand of peer review has been emphasized to illustrate the academic nature of scholarly publishing. The quality attributes of a manuscript in terms of content, context, syntax and usage of International Systems of Units (SI) are also highlighted. The rules, norms, ethics and standards of publishing in relation to copyrights and plagiarism are discussed. The published paper is recognized as the author's creation whereby recognition and prestige can be accorded, and therefore, the preparation demands personal commitment and devotion.
