Organizational commitment of agricultural extension agents in Rivers and Abia State agricultural development programmes in Nigeria
Abstract
The study was carried out to determine the level of organizational commitment of extension agents in Rivers and Abia States ADPs. Data were collected from 61 and 89 respondents randomly sampled from a total population of 117 and 112 extension agents in the two States ADPs respectively. A questionnaire structured and validated by the researchers was used to elicit information from the respondents. Analysis of data made use of descriptive statistical tools such as frequencies, percentages and mean. Results indicated that respondents in both States ADPs are highly committed to their extension organization. It was therefore recommended among other things that the ADPs in Nigeria should intensify efforts in boosting the fortnightly training meetings, seminars, workshops and other staff improvement/development programmes with innovations relevant to the farmers' need and the environment.
