Abstract

The study investigated classroom innovation strategies for attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in public universities in  Rivers State. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. Population consisted of 400 senior lecturers and 1,200 final year students  in faculties of Education, social sciences and management sciences in Rivers State University, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and  University of Port Harcourt. Stratified random sampling technique was used to sample 150 (50%) senior lecturers and 600 (50%) students.  Mean and standard deviation were used to answer seven (7) research questions while z-test was used to test six (6) null  hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicated that team-teaching, use of ICT, adequate use of instructional materials and  regular training would enhance classroom innovation for attainment of SDGs in public universities in Rivers State. The study concluded  that financial constraint is the major problem of classroom innovation for attainment of SDGs in public universities in Rivers State. It was  therefore recommended that government should adequately fund universities, universities should regularly sponsor staff and students  for conferences, workshops and seminars and NUC should make compulsory skills in ICT a precondition for university teachers in Rivers    State.
