Abstract

Innovation education is ideal in this 21st century as innovations bring about efficiency, improvement and transformation. Education is a  veritable tool for positive changes in all human endeavour and is national economic development. The foremost goal of the 17 Global  Sustainable Development Goals as contained in the United Nations 2030 agenda, is to end poverty in all its forms worldwide. This paper  focuses on how this laudable goal of no poverty, would be attained and sustained in our developing country, Nigeria through innovations  in the management of finance, entrepreneurship and vocational education. Poverty has been a major and perennial problem  in Nigeria due to inflation, unemployment, limited resources, corruption, mismanagement of funds and covid-19 plaque. The  journey to freedom from poverty seems to be too far because poverty level is overtly increasing especially in this covid-19 era.  Nevertheless, the writer is of the opinion that innovations in the management of scarce financial resources, entrepreneurship and  vocational education may be a panacea to the eradication or at least alleviation of poverty in Nigeria. Poverty has a far reaching debilitating effects on the future of today’s Nigerian children and youths. Therefore, the government, corporate bodies and privileged  citizens of Nigeria should empower poor youths to overcome poverty now and in the future. They should provide educational scholarships, student’s loan, free programmes/centres for skills acquisition, capital for entrepreneur and funds for entrepreneurial  education. Educational administrators should be able to efficiently introduce and manage innovations in financing and entrepreneurship  education.
