Management of innovative educators’ characteristics as predictors of entrepreneurship objective achievement in secondary schools in Rivers State
Abstract
The study investigated the management of innovative educators’ characteristics as predictors of entrepreneurship education objective achievement in secondary schools in Rivers State. The study was guided by three research questions and three hypotheses. The study adopted a correlation research design with a population of 7314 teachers in 274 senior public secondary schools in Rivers State. The sample size of 366 teachers was drawn through simple random sampling technique representing 5% of the population. Two instruments titled Management of Innovative Educators’ Attitude, Interest and Self-concept Scale and Entrepreneurship Education Objective Achievement Scale were used for data collection. Face and content validities were ensured by experts. The internal consistency reliability coefficients of .81 and .88 were determined for two questionnaires respectively and through Cronbach alpha. Simple regression was used to answer the research questions while t-test associated with simple regression was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. It was found that proper management of innovative educators’ characteristics such as attitude, interest and self-concept significantly predicted sustainable entrepreneurship objective achievement in secondary schools in Rivers State. It was recommended that the teachers as educational implementers should cultivate positive attitude, sterling interest and repose high self-confidence on their competence and expertise in the discharge of their statutory obligation for the actualization of sustainable entrepreneurship objective achievement in secondary schools in Rivers State.
