Abstract

The study examined the management of curricular innovations in technical/ vocational colleges for the achievement of sustainable  development goal 4 in Imo state. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study which adopted the descriptive survey  design. The target population was all forty members of the management team (principals, vice-principals, heads of department) and  eighty-eight (88) teachers in all four(4) Government-owned senior technical/vocational colleges in Imo State. Through the purposive  sampling technique, a sample size of 128 respondents, representing 100% of the population of the study, was used. The instrument for  data collection was “Managing Curricula Innovations for Sustainable Development Goal 4 Scale” (MCISDG4S). It was validated and found  reliable at 0.72. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the z-test was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings, among others reveal that teachers are given freehand to create flexible learning  environment for individual learning experiences, teachers are given access to materials they can use to achieve personalized teaching  and students are exposed to both technical and academic orientations. The study therefore recommends the use of school-industry  collaboration and compulsory Technical/Vocational Students’ Work Experience Program (TVSWEP), as ways of managing curricular  innovations in TVE for the achievement of Sdg4 in Imo state.
