The teachers’ perception of rate of absenteeism among school teachers in the Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State
Abstract
The study was conducted to establish the teachers’ perception of the rate of absenteeism among school teachers in the Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State. A total of 249 teachers in private and public schools took part in the study. The data obtained were analyzed through the use of percentages and z-test. The findings showed that private and public school teachers differ significantly in their perceptions of the causes of teachers’ absenteeism. The results also showed that poor salaries, from benefits and working conditions are more acceptable causes of teachers’ absenteeism in school. Consequent upon these findings, part of the recommendations included that positive efforts be directed by school administrators at developing human satisfaction at work.
