Emmanuel O. Eseyin

Abstract

The paper investigated the harmonization of educational management post graduate students into the global teaching labour force. Four research questions and 4 hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The design adopted for the study was the analytical survey design. The population of the study was 255 post graduate students and lecturers in the Department of Educational Management out of which 156 students and lecturers were sampled for the study. Data for the study was collected through a 30-item questionnaire titled “University Education Graduates for Global Teaching Questionnaire” (UEGGTQ). The questionnaire was validated and reliability index was 0.84 using Cronbach Alpha statistic. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while z-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that post graduate students lack the skills needed for a global teaching labour force. It was also revealed that the needed strategies are not adequately provided to harmonize these students into the global teaching labour market. It was therefore recommended that post graduate students should be empowered with the needed skills and that the University, Faculties and Departments should provide the enabling environment for these students to take advantage of the global teaching labour market.
