An assessment of the influence of nutritional knowledge on the eating habits of undergraduate students in Edo State.

Abstract

This study investigated the influenced of nutritional knowledge on the eating habits of undergraduate students in Edo State. To achieve objective of this study two research questions were raised to guide the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted for this study. Population was made up of undergraduate students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma with a total number of twenty-eight thousand, six hundred and twenty-six. One hundred students were selected from the population and used for this study using random sampling techniques. Questionnaire was used as instruments for data collection. Means and standard deviations were used for data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that eating habit of undergraduate students is influenced by their nutritional knowledge, some factors were also revealed that affect their eating habit. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made amongst others, students should learn how to properly manage their time to reduce stress. Also, market should be built close to university for easy accessibility.
