Technical vocational education and training for human capacity building in Imo State.

Abstract

The study investigated the level of provision of TVET for human capacity building in Imo State. Three research questions guided the study. This study employed the descriptive survey research design. The population for this study comprised of all the Director for Planning and Statistics of the Imo State Secondary Education Board and the 1,137 teachers in the area of TVET in the 285 secondary schools in Imo State. The Director for planning and statistics was purposively sampled while 284 teachers were selected using the stratified random sampling technique according to the three education zones in Imo State. Instruments for data collection were checklist and document analysis. The study found out among others that the level of provision of Technical Vocational Education and Training schools for Human Capacity Building is very low in Imo State. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that State Government should establish more Technical Vocational Education and Training schools to enhance the needed Human Capacity Building in the State.
