The study employed a descriptive survey, and a simple random sampling technique of fish bowl method was adopted to select five (5) faculties in a selected university. A stratified sampling technique was use to group the respondents into 100L, 200L, 300L and 400L. The study used a proportionate sampling technique to select 10 respondents each from the stratum, and systematic random sampling technique was used to select 480 respondents. The 4-point Likert scale instrument designed for this study was a modified and standardized questionnaire. The instrument was pretested on 100 students in Kwara State University, Malete. For data analysis, the multiple regression analysis was found to be the best option of statistical tools to use in this study. Based on the hypotheses tested at 0.05 alpha level, it was revealed that variable availability of facilities, positive attitude and peer group influence contributed significantly to participation in recreational activities among the sampled university students. It is recommended that tertiary institutions ought to provide their students quality and standard sports or recreational facilities. More importantly, all students should be sensitized to participate in sports and recreational activities.
