Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
- Manuscripts should be written on one side of an A4 paper, single-spaced, Font size 12, Times New Roman and with margins of three centimeters.
- Manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 word count, including references but not appendices.
- Manuscripts should be sent electronically to the Managing Editor via e-mail: uongozijournal_chiefeditor@mzumbe.ac.tz and copied to drp@mzumbe.ac.tz.
(i) The manuscript should have a separate title page with the author's names starting with the first then Surname, followed by the author’s institutional affiliation and the address.

(ii) The first page of the text should carry: (a) The title of the article without the name of the author, (b) An abstract of not more than 250 words.
(iii) When submitting your paper, indicate clearly the corresponding author.
(iv) Authors should declare any and all conflicts of interest and/or research funding. This should also be included in the published article. If there is no research funding or conflicts of interest, this too should be stated.
Peer review process of the journal is as follows:
The peer-review process is double-blind;
The review process takes a maximum of three months;
Reviewers are selected on the basis of speciality, reseach interest and being active in publication; above all, confidentiality is observed.
Reviewers may be sought from within Tanzania and beyond. The Chief Editor maintains a list of specialists drawn around the globe who assist in the review process.
Reviewer’s duties include:
To read the manuscript and advise the editorial board on the quality or weaknesses of the paper;
To suggest ways and means of improving the paper. Papers found to be out of the scope of the journal, to suggest ways of aligning them to suit the demands of the journal;
To advise the editorial board on how to maintain the standards of the journal.
Reviewer’s reports are kept anonymous forever. Such reports may be made available to other reviewers in case there is change of reviewer in handling a certain manuscript.
Tables, Maps and Diagrams
Italicize the titles for tables, Maps and Diagrams. Indicate the source(s) where Tables, maps and diagrams originated.
Heading Within Chapters
Major headings should be in bold and in capital letters, while subheadings should be bold and lower case. Each first letter of the content word should be capitalized. Both headings (major and sub) should be as short as possible, numbers should be used to distinguish different parts of a paper at not more than three levels; e.g. 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.2.2 etc.
