Abstract
The response of Sahel goats to homologous PPR vaccine (CapripestovaxR) under field conditions was investigated in Maiduguri, using virus neutralization test and haematology. The study showed that the Sahel goats seroconverted with geometric mean titres (GMT) of 18.5 and 130 on day zero and 28 days post vaccination (PV) respectively. The females had GMT of 23.8 and 211 and the males 15.2 and 80 on days zero and 28 days PV respectively. The haematological study showed a transient leucopaenia. The vaccine was found to be safe and efficacious in Sahel goats.
