Policy Appraisal of Community Bank Performance in Nigeria: An Empirical
Abstract
Community Banks in developed countries are viable vehicles in transmitting Monetary Policies in the economy through their credit activities to the economy.
Empirical evidence from this research has not supported this proposition among Community Banks in Nigeria. The failure of Community Banks in fulfilling this stated objective has been traced down to the rudimentary implementation of the policy guidelines that established Community Bank in Nigeria. This paper therefore calls for the urgent review of these policy guidelines so as to re-engineer improved performance in the industry.
