The contributions of Paul Tillich to the development of contemporary christian theology: An appraisal

Abstract

Although the history of Christian theological activity has received much attention in
theological literature, the contributions of Paul Tillich to modern Christian though
are yet to be adequately explored, documented and utilized here in Africa. Hence,
this attempts to close the gap. The paper attempts to show how Tillich's theological
views have influenced the growth and development of contemporary Christian
theology. It reveals that although Tillich's views appear to contrast some Christian
doctrines at first sight, such views nevertheless help to safeguard. Illuminate and
empower Christian thought.
