Social ethnics and nation-building
Abstract
This paper establishes the link between social ethics and nation building. It defines
the concepts of social ethics and the end product of nation-building: development
as well as appraised the evolution of nation – states by comparing England, United
States of America and Nigeria. The paper also examines the challenge of nation
building in the absence of entrenched ethical codes using the Niger-Delta question
and the review of the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly as case studies.
Suggestions are also made to help Nigeria evolve as an ethically sound polity.
