Herpes Zoster in a 5-month-old healthy looking infant
Abstract
Herpes zoster occurs due to reactivation of the latent varicella zoster virus and is usually a disease of the elderly. Childhood herpes zoster is believed to be rare, though recent studies suggest increasing incidence in children. We report a case of herpes zoster, occurring in a 5 month old otherwise healthy female infant seen at a tertiary health facility in Bida, Niger state, Nigeria.
