Adiposis Dolorosa, Juxta-articular: Case report and Literature Review
Abstract
Adiposis dolorosa or Dercum\'s disease is a poorly understood disorder. The aetiology is unknown, but appears in menopausal women with obesity. It is associated with very painful subcutaneous fatty deposits usually localized to the lower extremities in which pain treatment is usually unsuccessful. We report a case of a 68-year-old Sudanese woman with bilateral symmetrical swellings in the upper medial aspect of the leg near the knees and the lower and middle medial parts of thigh. The case is presented here with a review of the literature.
