Abstract
Canine kidneys were preserved for 20 hours according to the methods described by Coliins and Belzer. The kidneys were compared according to flow rate, oxygen consumption, urine excretion, urea and creatinine clearances, arteriography and histology. A better functional conservation of kidney tissue was obtained with the Belzer method. The oxygen consumption during perfusion appears to be a good index of the functional status of a kidney.
