Sosiale klimaat en die ontstaan van ego en taakoriëntering in sport
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand how the goal orientation of the competitive sports participant is formed in the social interaction process with his parents and coach. Seven competitive sports participants were interviewed. The interviews were taped, transferred to text and then analyzed. Due to the exploratory nature of this research no hypotheses were set. The goal of this qualitative research was to develop a deeper understanding of the role of the social climate in the formation and development of ego and task orientation in top-level sport. These seven in-depth interviews were approached in such a way that the data itself could construct its own meaning. Results were illustrated by means of quotations how the goal orientation of the sports participant is shaped by the social climate. A model was constructed and serves as a graphic representation of the interaction between goal orientation and interpersonal relations.
