The portrayal of men in DBZ Ntuli’s short stories in Imicibisholo

This article seeks to analyse the portrayal of men in three of DBZ Ntuli’s short stories found in the volume Imicibisholo. The study will use  masculinity as a theory to evaluate the selected short stories. Since the selected short stories are the primary sources, this implies that  this study adopts the qualitative method to collect data. The findings of the study will highlight how Ntuli depicts men as leaders,  providers, care givers, supporters and unconditional lovers in the following short stories: ‘Isijeziso sesithenjwa’, ‘Umhlola usekhaya’ and  ‘Umntwana uphi?’. This is closely aligned with what is expected from men in black culture and communities.
