The use of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in selecting a maintenance strategy for workshops: A case study of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) workshop
Abstract
Appropriate maintenance policy selection has been a challenge for many industries. AHP (analytical hierarchy process), an important decision making technique has the ability to resolve these challenges to some extent. AHP helps to provide overall ranking of maintenance alternatives. However the overall rankings can be sensitive such that the smallest change in the priority ranking can alter the final ranking. Three maintenance alternatives considered in this study are condition-based maintenance, preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance.
This paper focuses on the application of the AHP technique to select a maintenance policy for the R.M.U workshop. The technique has helped in selecting an appropriate maintenance policy for the workshop to enhance its operation.
