Trades directory of information and libraries: a study of Arab and European models
Abstract
This research begins by studying different models of professions directories that include the reference trades in the field of information and libraries, and this in terms of structure, classification and characteristics. The models studied were selected at European and Arabic regions including the European Model named the European Trades Repository of information and libraries and the Arabic model that corresponds to the standard classification of information and libraries professions published by the Arab Labor Organization of the Arab League. Subsequently, this research studies the Algerian case, which given the absence of a reference guide of professions, adopted the legislation relating to the labor governmental grades and professions including ministries of and the different government organisms. The study of different models for the information and libraries professions shows the interest given by the Arab model to this specialty among the other trades. This study also stresses the importance of the European model because of its specialization in the field. Finally, some weaknesses and shortcomings of the Algerian case are identified.
