Peer Review

Our peer review process can be summarized into the following stages:

1. Submission of manuscripts

Authors submit manuscripts to Papers in education and Development (PED). Currently, the journal accepts submissions by email.

2. Assessment by the Chief Editor

The Chief Editor checks the manuscript’s composition and arrangement against the journal’s Author Guidelines to make sure it includes the required sections and format. The quality of the paper is not critically assessed at this point.

3. Appraisal by the Editorial Board members’ meeting

The Editorial Board checks that the manuscript falls within the scope of the journal and is sufficiently original and interesting. If not, the manuscript may be rejected without being reviewed any further.

5. Blind peer review

The Chief Editor, on behalf of the Editorial Board sends invitations to individuals deemed to be competent experts in respective fields of study in relation to the manuscripts available. Usually, two to three peer reviewers are assigned to review one manuscript. Peer reviewers are usually expected to submit their review report within four weeks.

8. Assessment of peer reviewers’ reports

The Chief Editor considers all the returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews of the same manuscript differ broadly, the Chief Editor may invite an additional reviewer so as to get an extra opinion before making a decision.

9. Communicating the decision

The Chief Editor sends a decision email to the author(s) including any relevant reviewer comments. The comments are always anonymous.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

This journal content is published under an Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Editorial correspondence including manuscripts for submission should be sent to The Chief Editor or Associate Chief Editors, Papers in Education and Development (PED), School of Education, University of Dar es Salaam, P.O. Box 35048, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Authors are advised to submit their papers in electronic form, as an attachment, to email papersineducation@gmail.com, copied to ped@udsm.ac.tz.
