A sustainable solution to address the unmet need for specialist and general surgical services of children in under-resourced contexts
Abstract
A Hub and Spoke Model is a realistic option to fill the gap between children living in low and high-resource contexts in accessing dedicated surgical services. General surgeons in peripheral facilities may deal with less complex conditions after specific training. They should also be able to stabilise and properly refer major cases to a specialist tertiary Centre.
