Reading Skills and Development for Effective use of Library Resources
Abstract
The estimable value of reading calls for the need to master the skills by the individual. A competent reader is obviously a competent learner. Since reading is the tool for all subjects in all content fields, it is pertinent to master the skills at all developmental stages of a child. This paper presented the analysis of reading skills from birth to adulthood; from nursery to the university level. The skills when properly mastered would provide easy access to effective use of all library resources. The reading of a learner would thereby reinforced cognitively and affectively, making a reader emerge not only as a competent reader but also an intellectual.
