Abstract

An intranasal tooth is an ectopic tooth erupting into the nasal cavity. It is a rare complication of cleft lip and palate. Ectopic teeth may be supernumerary, primary or permanent. Clinical manifestations are variable and so are the symptoms. Clinical examination and radiographic evaluation are important tools for diagnosis. We present a case of a 20 month old female with an intranasal tooth following cleft lip repair. There were no associated symptoms. A detailed history, clinical evaluation and the use of an upper occlusal radiograph were used in diagnosis. The tooth was extracted under local anaesthesia. The outcome was satisfactory.
