Accidental Poisoning with Otapiapia: a Local Organophasphate-Containing Rodenticide: A Case Report

Abstract

Children are prone to accidental poisoning. We report this fatal organophosphate poisoning of a 3-year-old Nigerian boy following accidental ingestion of a homemade cocktail of kerosene and ‘Otapiapia': a local rodenticide to highlight the dangers inherent in un-regulated production, home use and storage of this substance. Preventive measures are discussed.
