Challenges in energy supply and infrastructural development in developing countries: Case study of Nigeria.
Abstract
Energy supply and infrastructural development has remained major challenges in most developing countries. Using Nigeria as case study, the paper presents a very dismal scenario of both per capita grid electricity supply of 40 Watts and transport fuel supply which is largely imported inspite of the country being the sixth producer of crude oil in the world. On the overall, developing countries must address the eminent energy challenges and invest more towards energy security as the key to industrialization and economic development. National energy mix must also be diversified to cover alternative fuels and renewable energy sources to ensure sustainability.
