Residual effects of poultry manure and NPK fertilizer residues on soil nutrient and performance of jute (Corchorus olitorius. L.) - research note
Abstract
Chemical analysis of soil that received poultry manure and NPK fertilizer treatments and planted to Corchorus olitorius was carried out a year later. The residual effect of the treatments on following C. olitorius plant was determined at Akure, southwest Nigeria. Previous application of poultry manure increased soil organic matter and N, P, K, Ca and Mg. The values of soil components due to application of poultry manure were higher than those of chemical fertilizer treatments. The plots previously treated with poultry manure especially at 30-50t/ha enhanced yield parameters such as total biomass yield, marketable and edible yields of C. olitorius.
