Submission of manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been published or offered for publication elsewhere. Original manuscripts should be electronically submitted through the journal website or by email to njse@delsu.edu.ng or editornjse@yahoo.com.

TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS
Manuscripts considered for publication include original research papers, review articles, technical notes, book review, reports of conferences and meetings, short communications and letters to the Editor.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
Manuscripts should be in double-spaced typing on A4 paper format with line numbering on the left margin. The title page should contain the title, author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s), including a complete address for correspondence and proofs.

Each manuscript should be provided with an abstract of not more than 250 words. The abstract should be followed by the Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Acknowledgments.

The S.I units should be used for all scientific and laboratory data; if in certain instances, it is necessary to quote other units, these should be added in parentheses, temperatures should be given in degree Celsius. The abbreviations for units should follow international standard. There is no need to use full stops to mark abbreviations, e.g. M (not M.), ppm (not p.p.m.). Current recognized (IUPAC) chemical nomenclature should be used, although commonly accepted trivial names may be used where there is ambiguity.

Tables (numbered consecutively with (Arabic numerals), references and legends to illustrations should be typed on separate sheets and placed at the end of the manuscript.
Footnotes should be avoided; such information should be included in the text.

REFERENCES
For references to published works, the Harvard system should be adopted i.e. name of author(s) and date of publications should appear in the text e.g. Oputa (1997) or Ackman et al., (1967). Unpublished data or private communications should not appear in the reference list. Examples of references are given below:

ILLUSTRATIONS
Line drawings should be provided in Microsoft Word. Diagrams and graphs should generally be of such size that, after linear reduction to one half or one-third, they should be legible. Photographs must be of good quality and should be sharp black and white prints. Each illustration must be clearly numbered and name(s) of the author(s) of the manuscripts written on the reverse side.

HANDLING CHARGES
Authors are expected to pay twenty five thousand naira or one hundred U.S. dollars to cover handling charges.
