The natural horn as an efficient sound radiating system
Abstract
This investigation is aimed at verifying the suitability of the local horns in musical acoustics and other similar aspects of acoustic engineering. Some mathematical formulations have been applied to the local horn system in the investigation which covered the conical and other shapes of the local
horn the agbo (akpele) horn. Results obtained showed that the locally made horn are efficient sound radiating systems and are therefore excellent for sound production in local musical renditions. These findings, in addition to the portability and low cost of the horns qualify them to be highly recommended for use in music making and for other purposes any other horns of any class
are put. Results further showed that the mathematical models are in good agreement with experiment.
