Coin in the oesophagus: An unusual cause of tetanus in a child - A case report
Abstract
A case of tetanus in a two and half year old female child following the swallowing and impaction of a naira coin in the oesophagus is reported. The coin was located at 2 centimeters from the oesophageal opening. There was no history of immunization against tetanus. In spite of endoscopic removal of the coin that was impacted for 8 days and treatment for the spasm and infection, the child died.
