Abstract

 A origem do povo Lomwé, os seus hábitos e costumes típicos o caracteriza como um povo único de Namúli. Este povo na Zambézia ocupa as regiões dos distritos de Gurué, Gilé, Ilé, Alto Molocué, Namarroi, Mocubela, Mulevala, Molumbo e Pebane. O Montes Namúli embora apresentar paisagens lindas na sua formação montanhosa e suas temperaturas amenas no inverno, é também uma região com muitas histórias míticas. O objectivo da pesquisa foi compreender o povo Lomwé, sua expansão e a influência da modernização nos seus hábitos e costumes tendo em conta a dinâmica dos mesmos nos dias de hoje. O estudo traz o passado deste povo, os hábitos e costumes que eram praticados na região e como se foram desenvolvendo e evoluindo com o decorrer do tempo. A pesquisa é exploratória. A metodologia usada para recolha de informações no campo foi a entrevista com questões semiestruturadas que foram feitas à pessoas idóneas que conhecem a história do povo Lomwé. Com esse estudo compreendeu-se a história do povo Lomwé, seus hábitos e costumes, os traços étnicos que o povo Lomwé tem com outros povos e a influência da modernização.

English Abstract

The origin of the Lomwe people, their typical habits and customs characterize them as a unique people of Namuli. This people in Zambezia occupies the regions of the districts of Gurue, Gile, Ile, Alto Molocue, Namarroi, Mocubela, Mulevala, Molumbo and Pebane. Montes Namuli, although presenting beautiful landscapes in its mountain formation and its mild temperatures in winter, is also a region with many mythical stories. The objective of the research was to understand the Lomwe people, their expansion and the influence of modernization on their habits and customs, taking into account their dynamics today. The study brings the past of this people, the habits and customs that were practiced in the region and how they developed and evolved over time. The research is exploratory. The methodology used to collect information in the field was the interview with semi-structured questions that were asked to suitable people who know the history of the Lomwe people. With this study, the history of the Lomwe people was understood, their habits and customs, the ethnic traits that the Lomwe people have with other peoples and the influence of modernization.
