Author Guidelines
Guidelines for Authors
1. Technical conditions:
a) Text written in Microsoft Word format (*.doc or *docx).
b) URLs for the references were informed when possible.
c) The texts of the sections will be formatted as follows: Arial, size 12, spacing 1.5, the page with 3cm on the top margin and 2cm on the remaining margins and must not be paginated.
Section I - Unpublished articles and translations/interpretations: They should have 10 to 20 pages, including post-textual elements (if any).
Section II - Interviews, book reviews : Should be 3 to 8 pages
Section III - Poetry, Lyrics, Traditional Songs, Orature: They should have 3 to 8 pages
Section IV - Reports of experiences, photos, recipes for traditional foods, rites and festivities : They should have 3 to 8 pages
Section V - Proverbs, taboos and myths : They should have 3 to 8 pages.
Section VI - Sign Languages : Authors must record a file in AVI, WMV or MP4 format. They must be positioned in the center of the screen so that they are clearly visible. Pay attention to the light so that the video is not dark. Structure: The marked presentation of the article must announce the title, introduction, development (theoretical foundation, methodology, analysis) and conclusions. The video must be sent together with a summary in any language. If the language has writing, you can write the summary in that language. The abstracts will have from 250 to 300 words, Arial, 12, single spacing and the references of the article. The background of the video, the color of the interpreter's clothing is free. The written text and video should be sent to the general email of the Journal:revista.njinga.sape@unilab.edu.br
d) All citations and references must comply with one of the standards: APA or ABNT (updated versions)
2. Formatting of the article to be submitted for evaluation
a) Pre-textual elements:
The title (Only the first capital letter), abstract (from 200 to 300 words) and from 3 to 5 keywords in the language of the text.
Translation: The title, abstract and 3 to 5 keywords translated into the foreign language.
Translation: The title, abstract and 3 to 5 keywords translated into an African or indigenous Brazilian language.
The abstract (from 200 to 300 words) should present the object/subject/theme, the problem, hypotheses, objectives, methodology and main conclusions. All abstracts will be formatted single-spaced. The authors' names, institutional affiliation and emails will be written in the “Metadata” of the submission form .
b) Textual elements:
Introduction or initial considerations (It situates the reader by giving the general panorama; Offers a global view of the study; Clarifies, delimits the approach to the subject; Presents objectives (general and specific); Presents the justification and relevance of the research; Highlights the methodology; Presents the structure of the article.
Sections and subsections of the text (if any): definition of concepts, debates, reasoning for ideas, etc.
Methodology, presentation, analysis and discussion of data.
Conclusions or final considerations: the research findings are presented, the starting question is answered confirming or refuting hypotheses; there is a linking of ideas and verification of the achievement of objectives. Avoid bringing new ideas.
c) Post-textual elements: References (Choose only one standard: APA or ABNT). The choice of two norms is justified by the fact that it is an International Journal and also because these two norms are widely circulated in Brazil and in Africa.Attachments and appendices (if any/optional)
3. Internal structure of the text
a) Illustrations: figures, graphs, charts and tables must have a title and an indication of their source. When they have been produced by the author, it must include “Source: own elaboration”. The font must be positioned below the illustration.
b) Notes : explanatory notes should be avoided and, if used, should appear as a footnote throughout the text.
c) All words and expressions that are not part of the language of the article must be in italics.
d) The titles of sections and subsections must be numbered with Arabic numerals, in bold and with the first letter in capital letters.
e) In the text, the designation of titles of works must appear in double quotation marks, with capital letters only at the beginning, except in cases of proper names.
Translation/Interpretation
Translation: The title in 2 language, keywords and abstract (200 to 300 words).
Translation: Title in language 3, keywords and abstract. This translation must be in an African or indigenous Brazilian language.

The Final References
Each author should choose which standard to use. When choosing, you must strictly follow the rules of that chosen standard. It can be APA (American Psychological Association (APA) – 6th edition) or ABNT respecting the latest updates of each standard.
About sign languages
Authors should record a file in AVI or WMV or MP4 format. They must be positioned in the center of the screen so that they are clearly visible. Pay attention to the light so that the video is not dark.
Structure: The marked presentation of the article must announce the title, introduction, development (theoretical foundation, methodology, analysis) and conclusions.
The video must be sent together with a summary in any language. If the sign language has standardized writing, the author may write the abstract in that language. Abstracts will have 250 to 300 words, Arial, 12, single spacing and references following APA or ABNT.

Section I - Unpublished articles and translations/interpretations
The official languages of Revista NJINGA&SAPÊ: International Journal of Cultures, African and Brazilian Languages are all African languages and Brazilian indigenous languages. This is an exercise for the "linguistic intellectualization" of indigenous languages, seeking their promotion, protection and dissemination.
Peer Review
All texts submitted to Revista NJINGA&SAPÊ: International Journal of Cultures, African and Brazilian Languages will be evaluated in a first phase by the editor in order to check if they meet the basic conditions. Formatting is evaluated; ABNT or APA standards; title and source indications in figures, images, tables and respective sources. The Journal requires 3 abstracts, the first in the language of the article, the second in one of the European languages (English, French, Spanish or Portuguese) and the last abstract in an African or indigenous Brazilian language. The editor evaluates the number of pages; performs preliminary screening for scientificity, clarity, innovation and novelty (plagiarism check). When approved, the texts will be sent to the reviewers (peer review, double blind peer review). A third evaluator may be invited in case of a tie.
Evaluators look at the suitability of the title to the content; internal structure of the article; clarity and pertinence of objectives; consistent methodology that supports the proposed analyses; results and discussion that bring scientific contribution – innovative approach, critical, reflective or creative vision, offering advancement to knowledge; appropriate citations and references to the technical standards adopted by the journal; and pertinence to the editorial line of the publication.
After approval, the texts will be aligned for editing and following the legal procedures for publication. The authors will be informed about the accepted and rejected results. A declaration will be issued for approved texts. In the case of texts produced by invited authors, the peer review will be carried out by members of the journal's Executive Editorial Board.
The evaluators fill in the standard form with already determined options, in which there is an open field for the justification of the final decision, accepting, rejecting or recommending necessary corrections and/or adjustments to the articles. In case of request for changes, the article can be forwarded for a new evaluation. Spelling and grammatical changes in the language of the article, as well as abstracts and titles in English and Spanish, will be the sole responsibility of the authors. No additions or modifications are allowed after approval of the final revision. The authors will receive a Letter of Acceptance with information about the probable publication date. Evaluators will also receive a certificate of participation in the activity. The translations/interpretations must be evaluated by the translators.
Section II - Interviews, book reviews
These are interviews that must be done in one of the official languages of the NJINGA&SAPÊ Magazine: International Journal of Cultures, African and Brazilian Languages and must have 4 to 8 pages, Arial, 12. Book reviews must respect the same procedure.
Section III - Poetry, Lyrics, traditional songs, orature
The texts should have 4 to 8 pages.
Section IV - Reports of Experiences, Photos, Recipes, Traditions and Rites
The texts should have 4 to 8 pages.
Section V - Proverbs, Taboos, Tales and Myths
They should have 4 to 8 pages.
Section VI - Sign Languages
Authors of any Sign Language in the African, Brazilian and Timorese spaces can send their texts/abstract of 200 to 300 words and 3 to 5 keywords. The video in AVI, WMV, MP4 format must be at least 10 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes.

All texts submitted to Revista NJINGA&SAPÊ: International Journal of Cultures, African and Brazilian Languages will be evaluated in a first phase by the editor in order to check if they meet the basic conditions. Formatting is evaluated; ABNT or APA standards; title and source indications in figures, images, tables and respective sources. The editor evaluates the number of pages; performs preliminary screening for scientificity, clarity, innovation and novelty (plagiarism check). When approved, the texts will be sent to the reviewers ( double blind peer review ). A third evaluator may be invited in case of a tie.
Evaluators look at the suitability of the title to the content; analyzes the signals used; clarity and pertinence of objectives; consistent methodology that supports the proposed analyses; results and discussion that bring scientific contribution – innovative approach, critical, reflective or creative vision, offering advancement to knowledge; appropriate citations and references to the technical standards adopted by the journal; and pertinence to the editorial line of the publication.
After approval, the texts will be aligned for editing and following the legal procedures for publication. The video is saved on the Njinga & Sepé Magazine Channel. The authors will be informed about the accepted and rejected results. A declaration will be issued for approved texts. In the case of texts produced by invited authors, the peer review will be carried out by members of the journal's Executive Editorial Board.

They are articles from different areas of knowledge (multidisciplinarity)

By submitting the article proposal in this research, the authors agree that they retain the rights and grant the journal the right to the first publication, simultaneously submitted to a Creative Commons license that allows sharing by third parties with due mention of the author and the first publication .All readers are subject to indicating the appropriate references when quoting directly or indirectly, respecting APA or ABNT standards.
