Massive upper gastrointestinal tract (GIT) bleeding from AIDS-related kaposi’s sarcoma – a case report
Abstract
Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) is a common malignancy with varied etiology and presentation. AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma became a global topic of interest with the discovery of the Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the clinical syndrome of Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). KS usually affects the skin but extracutaneous KS most frequently involve the lymph nodes, Lungs and Gastrointestinal tract. The most common locations for gastrointestinal tract involvement are stomach and duodenum. In this report, we present a middle aged man who had AIDS-Associated KS that presented with massive upper GIT bleeding leading to his demise.
