Attitudes of Teachers in Obudu, Nigeria toward the Education of Students with Special Needs
Abstract
The challenges that learners with special need face in the course of learning are enormous. These challenges pose crucial problems to the teachers who are in direct contact with these types of learners. It is on this note that this study is undertaken to find out empirically the teachers' attitudes toward the education of learners with special needs. The study adopted the survey design using the simple random sampling to select 150 respondents to form the sample for the study. Frequency counts, simple percentages and standard scores were employed to analyse the data. The findings showed that the attitudes of majority of the teachers were generally positive. Consequent upon this, it was recommended among others that teachers should be better remunerated to further enhance positive attitude towards the education of special needs learners
