Abstract
Objective: To show that Pemphigus vulgaris can be successfully managed in a resource limited setting.
Method/Case presentation: The patient first presented at the general outpatient clinic with history of mouth ulcer of one year duration and occasional low grade fever. With an examination finding of ulcers at the base of the tongue, she was thought to have Aphthous ulcer. However, with blisters and erosions in the mouth and skin as well as weeping skin lesions, she was diagnosed and successfully managed for Pemphigus vulgaris after she was referred to us at the skin clinic 5 months later.
Discussion: Though she was initially thought to have aphthous ulcer, she was later diagnosed as having Pemphigus vulgaris by a high index of clinical suspicion and successfully managed with systemic corticosteroid.
