Progressive International: Challenging the rise of right-wing nationalism
Abstract
What do ethno-nationalistvmovements tell us about people and politics in the many countries where it is on the rise? Are the waves of immigration a real threat to the way of life of the native population? Are culture, language, religion – the components of identity – in danger of being swamped by the newcomers? Are the jobs of the working class about to be lost? Or is it an economic system that has steadily eroded the standard of living of middle- and lower-income sections of their population? Carilee Osborne gives us a short synopsis of the possible factors that fuel populist ideologies and profiles the Progressive International as an alternative to these toxic ideas.
