The limitations of applying rational decision-making models to contraceptive use in Malawi
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show the limitations of rational decision-making models as applied to child spacing and more specifically to the use of modern methods of contraception. In the light of factors known to influence low uptake of child spacing services in other African countries, suggestions are made to explain the reasons for low uptake of services in Malawi and a more culturally appropriate model of decisionmaking as applied to contraception is put forward.
