Research Notes: New Archaeological Material from Cross River State: A Terracotta Image of a Seated Woman from Odukpani
Abstract
The Old Residency Museum, Calabar, recently acquired a large terracotta image of a seated woman found in Odukpani. This figurine, perhaps a representation of a ―fatting house‖ maiden, is here related to other works recovered through archaeological investigations near Calabar and which are dated to the eleventh-fifteenth century A.D.
