Abstract

The study focused on library and information services for cultural and educational rebirth in Edo State. The survey type of the descriptive research design was employed. The population of the study comprised of librarians from six academic libraries in Edo State, Nigeria. The total enumeration sampling technique was adopted to study the entire 58 librarians. The instrument for data collection was a selfstructured questionnaire which was later converted to an online survey questionnaire using SurveyMonkey and it was administered to the respondents via WhatsApp. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics. The study revealed that several services such as SDI, quiz competition and provision of information resources are rendered in the library for the purpose of promoting cultural and educational rebirth in Edo State. Although, most of the services are not rendered frequently due to several challenges facing libraries in the state such as inadequate infrastructure, poor reading culture amongst others. The study therefore recommended that there is the need for collaboration between libraries and other stakeholders in the cultural and educational sector in order to achieve the sorely desired cultural and educational rebirth in the state.
