Information preservation and security in Bayelsa State College of Health Technology, Otuogidi, Ogbia Town.

Abstract

Preserving information and records means ensuring they remain accessible and usable information, information and records will deteriorate over time, whether they are paper, photographic, digital or audio-visual. It is necessary to note that information security has been a serious concern even among ordinary users of information in  society and if information security is not handled properly, it will lead to misinformation in the community, information that has been fathered for a long period will just be accessed or stolen or modified preserving digital information, preserving the physical record, conversion and migration are ways of preserving information. Also, information is preserved based on future use, for social and democratic purposes; the words, information preservation and security face several challenges like lack of collaboration and partnership, deterioration of the digital media, lack of legislation, policy and strategy etc. Therefore, it is important to note that, there are solutions in preserving information and records which include, controlling temperature and relative humidity, controlling pollution, water and controlling light.
