Abstract

A Survey of commercial tomato farms and nurseries in Akomodan during the wet and dry seasons of 1091 end 1992 identified Septoria leaf spot caused by &Nona lycopersici as the most serious leaf disease of a tomato in the wet season. Incidence of Scleroium with early blight and leaf mould was limited. The major fruit disease during the wet season were bacterial speck and spot. Fruit rosispots caused by Phoma, Collertriclum, Alternoria and Fusorium spp, infrequently occurred even in the wet season. The dry season crop was afflicted primarily by Fusarium wilt, blossom and rot and rook knot Root law and damping-off occurred in bosh dry and wet Season Cocobre. Despite their intense use. especially in the wet season, control of Septoria leaf spot, the main target of the control was poor Three instances of fungicide misuse viz (a) indiscriminate mixing of different fungicides (often at sub optimal non), (ii) adoption of intpreperspray peogromme and lug application of funguses serelpfeine of disease level were identified Control of septria leaf spot, bacterial speck/spot. Fugrium wilt and root knot should be further studied will and root knot Would be further studied
