Les fractures supracondyliennes de l’humérus chez l’enfant au CHU-Tokoin de Lomé
Abstract
This retrospective descriptive study included all children treated in the Department of pediatric surgery of Tokoin Teaching Hospital for supracondylar fracture of humerus (SCFH). Results: During 3 years, 50 children were treated for SCHF. The SCHF was an in extension SCFH (ESCHF) in 49 cases and an in flexion SCHF (FSCHF) in 1 case. There were 4 stages I, 4 stages II, 16 stages III and 25 stages IV of ESCHF. The FSCHF was type III. The treatment was done with a brachio-palmar plaster in 4 ESCHF stage I, with reduction under general anesthesia and brachio-palmar plaster in 4 ESCHF stage II, with the Blount technique in 5 ESCHF stage III and with open reduction and crossed pinning in 11 ESCHF stage III, 25 ESCHF stage IV and 1 FSCHF type III. Therapeutic results were good in 45 cases (90%).
Conclusion: Early management in best conditions lead to good results.
