Le Reverend Pere Aloyse Riegert : Un missionnaireadministrateur civil SMA hors-pair (1937-1960)

Abstract

Dans la lignée des missionnaires évangélisateurs du Togo se trouve le RP Aloyse Riegert, l’un de ceux qui ont le plus contribué au développement spirituel, intellectuel et social du pays. En effet, dès son arrivée au Togo en 1937, il fut nommé vicaire à la cathédrale de Lomé et directeur de l’école catholique des garçons. En 1940, il se vit confier la direction de l’enseignement  catholique du Togo jusqu’en 1960. Sur le plan administratif, il fut nommé une première fois, en 1946, comme membre de l’Assemblée territoriale et une deuxième fois, en 1955, comme membre du Conseil du Gouvernement. Ses multiples fonctions bien réussies font de lui, sans conteste, un modèle. Cette étude vise à appréhender l'apport du RP Aloyse Riegert dans le développement spirituel, intellectuel, humain et social du Togo de 1937 à 1960. Pour ce faire, nous avons consulté la documentation ayant trait aux acteurs de la christianisation du Togo au temps colonial et utilisé la méthode de la remontée des filières bibliographiques. Au terme de la consultation documentaire, aucune étude n'a portée d'une manière précise et spécifique sur le RP Aloyse Riegert d'où son importance. Les résultats ont montré une forte implication de ce dernier dans la réussite de l'évangélisation et l'enseignement que dans l'administration civile du Togo, notamment l'adoption des prestations familiales au profit des travailleurs salariés.

English title: The Reverend Father Aloyse Riegert: An exceptional Manager-Missionary SMA (1937-1960)

In the lineage of the evangelizing missionaries of Togo is Rev. Aloyse Riegert, one of those who contributed most to the spiritual, intellectual and social development of the country. Indeed, upon his arrival in Togo in 1937, he was appointed curate at the cathedral of Lomé and director of the Catholic Boys School. In 1940, he was entrusted with the direction of Catholic education in Togo until 1960. In administrative terms, he was first appointed in 1946 as a member of the Territorial Assembly and a second time in 1955 as a member of the Government Council. His many successful functions made him, undeniably, a model. This study aims to
understand the contribution of RP Aloyse Riegert in the spiritual, intellectual, human and social development of Togo from 1937 to 1960. To do this, I consulted the documentation relating to the actors of the Christianization of Togo in colonial times and used the method of reporting bibliographic data. At the end of the documentary consultation, no study has focused in a precise and specific way on the RP Aloyse Riegert hence its importance. The results showed a strong involvement of the latter in the success of evangelization and teaching in the civil administration of Togo, including the adoption of family benefits for paid workers.
