Jesus Christ vis-à-vis osu and oru in Igboland: Towards reconstruction liberation theology
Abstract
The study sets out to x-ray the conflicts of class distinction among the osu (those sacrificed to deities), oru (cult slave) and amadi (freeborn) in Igboland. The issues involved include title taking, identity, and settlement. Findings showed that they are all human beings; they segregate among themselves on the grounds of ritual political offices, land acquisition, mixed marriage, social status, ignorance, faithlessness among other factors. Recommendations in the way of using Christian sacred text and new scientific strategies capable of improving the situation were offered.
